Car Off Cliff on East Crescent

JUNE 18 - Friday June 18 was a bright sunny lovely day for most, when shortly after 10am an alarm was received for a car off a cliff on East Crescent Ave. Arriving Ramsey Police verified no injuries and requested RFD to stand by at the scene while the recovery process took place. Train versus Cement Truck on Main St

MAY 21 - We have all seen it on Main St, traffic stops and someone who did not wait for enough space to make it across gets stuck sitting on the tracks. The bells clang, the gates come down and there is a panic to clear the tracks for the inbound train. Barely ever does everyone not clear, but today was a bit different. Ramsey FAST Unit reponds to Wyckoff Fire

MAY 16 - On Monday morning, May 10th, the Wyckoff Fire Dept was dispatched to a reported garage fire on Drury Lane. First units on the scene found a well involved 3 car attached garage with extension to the second floor and attic area. APRIL 17 - Recently Chief Dougherty received a donation of locker room floor tiles for the Ramsey Fire Department. Over half of firefighter injuries are caused by slips and falls; these non-slick locker room floor tiles installed by Lt Brendan Sterbinsky, 441 Engineer Jams Gatti, Kelsey Polster with assistance from Ex. Apartment Fire in Regency Park

APRIL 16 - Shortly after the procession ended down Main Street for Cpl. Jankiewicz an alarm was received to Ridgewood Central of an apartment fire in Regency Park Condos on Island Ave. Arriving Ramsey Police Department observed heavy smoke emanating from a ground floor corner apartment and began evacuating adjoining apartments in conjunction with transmitting the working fire signal to Ramsey FD. Ramsey Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

APRIL 13 - A Ramsey resident and recent graduate of Ramsey high school was killed in a plane crash in Afghanistan. Army Cpl. Michael Jankiewicz was on board an Osprey aircraft that crashed. He was 23 years old and dreamed of the Military since he was a young child. Michael was one of three service members killed in the crash.

Ramsey FD Responds to Wyckoff Structure Fire

APRIL 08 - The Ramsey FAST unit was requested to respond to Wyckoff for a structure fire located on Vassar Street in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 8th. Chief Jim Dougherty (430), Deputy Chief (450) Randy Sterbinsky and Tower 442 responded.

Governor Christie Spends the Day in Ramsey

MARCH 24 - Governor Chris Christie spent the good part of the day in Ramsey hosting and participating in a Town Hall meeting at the Ramsey Community Center located next to the Robert Litchult Firehouse on Michael Reilly Way in Ramsey. Chief Bob Litchult Passes

MARCH 14 - The Ramsey Fire Department will be celebrating the life of Chief Robert Litchult this week. Chief Litchult passed last week in Bradenton, Florida at the blessed age of 97. For many of us Bob was and will always be "our Chief", having served in that position in 1948, 1949, 1952, and 1953. Gas Leak Forces Evacuation of Pre-School Center

FEBRUARY 08 - Shortly after 9am this morning an alarm was received by the Ramsey Police of an odor of gas in and around a day care center on Franklin Turnpike. Ramsey FD was immediately dispatched. Arriving Police under the direction of Sgt. The year started with a call from the Wyckoff Fire Department on January 2nd with a request for the F.A.S.T unit. JANUARY 11 - On Saturday Jan 9, Ramsey Fire Department and the Ramsey Rescue Squad had their 2010 officers sworn in by the Mayor and Full Council. Ex Ramsey Fire Chief in Major Crash

JANUARY 07 - On Wednesday evening Jan 6, 2009, Patrolman Joe Kerr of the Fruitland, MD Police Dept was involved in a head-on collision on Rte 13 in his town. Joe is a former Deputy Fire Chief here in Ramsey and moved to Maryland several years ago to pursue employment there.
