Major Snowstorm Hits Ramsey

By Fire Fighter Mark Madsen
December 19, 2009

As of this writing a major storm is underway here in Ramsey for this last weekend before Christmas. Last night a 3 alarm fire in Ridgewood tested firefighters there, and weatherwise conditions for firefighting will be much worse in the coming days. Home heating systems will be pushed to the max, chimney fires abound, and we sure could use some help from the residents in clearing an area around your local fire hydrant. If possible try to make it a neighborhood project for the local kids if you are not able to do so yourself. Hydrants are the little "Iron Firemen" in your neighborhood, they have all been flagged by the Water Department with reflective markers to facilitate locating them in deep snow, but a little extra is always a good idea when seconds count.
