After the brunt of the storm came through and the sun started shining again, Irene was not done with us yet. Strong winds began blowing trees and power lines down into the night, which brought the now exhausted emergency services back on their toes. During the afternoon on Sunday, a call to the Ramsey PD, who in turn dispatched the FD, Rescue, and EMS units to 293 South Central ave. for a large tree into a house with people trapped. Upon arrival, a very large tree smashed into a small home in the rear of the property completely engulfing the second floor. 4 people were trapped and unable to get out. Ladders from engine 432 and Tower 441 were placed at windows and the residents were safely removed. The utilities were secured and the second floor of the home was completely destroyed. One of the residents suffered an injury to her foot and was treated by EMS. no other injuries were reported.
