Last evening around 8:30, the RFD was dispatched to a reported Chimney fire on North Central Ave. Deputy Chief Chris Warnet arrived on scene first and observed a working fire on the outside of the home traveling up the side of the wooden chimney structure. He then transmitted the working fire. Assistant Chief Tim Mazza arrived and assumed command and coordinated the response of incoming units. Deputy Chief Warnet then took operations as the first units arrived. Engine 432 connected to a hydrant across the street and tower 441 took a position in front and set up to the roof. The visible fire was quickly knocked down using a pressurized water extinguisher from the ground as a second extinguisher was used from the bucket until a water supply was established. A dry line was positioned at the front door, however no fire extended into the living space. Extensive overhaul was done around the roof area and the chimney structure. There was very little extension to the roof. Units on scene were Engines 432,433,434, tower 441, Rescue, EMS and PD. The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries and the family was allowed to return to their home. Great job by all on scene.
