On the evening of December 30,2008, Ramsey firefighters were called to assist at a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 17 north in front of Cury's Sporting Goods. The driver of a BMW lost control of his vehicle while traveling north, went off the road and struck a utility pole. As the Ramsey PD arrived on the scene, a second accident occurred in the fast and center lanes of the highway. Two vehicles collided resulting in injuries to the vehicles occupants. With two separate incidents, the PD was forced to shut down the entire northbound side of the highway. Both Ramsey Ambulances along with the FD were dispatched to the scene. Engines 432 and 431 along with the 3 Chiefs were assigned to securing all vehicles involved. Batteries were disconnected and speedy dri was applied to spilled fluids. The victims were removed to the hospital by Ramsey EMS and the scene was secured in 1/2 hour
