November 6, 2023

On Sunday, 11/05/23 at around noon, the Wyckoff Fire Dept was dispatched for a structure fire. Upon arrival Wyckoff command immediately transmitted the working fire and asked for the second alarm. Ramsey Tower 441 responded and was immediately put to work helping with ventilation and then taking care hot spots on the roof area. The fire was brought under control within an hour, however there was severe damage to the home requiring extensive overhaul. Ramsey units continued to work for another hour until released. The incident went to a third alarm to assist in overhaul and relief for the first due units.
Strong work by Wyckoff and surrounding towns in performing an aggressive interior attack to stop the spread and to conduct thorough searches. One victim was found in a room toward the rear of the house and was removed by firefighters to EMS and medics to perform life saving measures.
Units from Midland Park, Waldwick, Allendale, Ramsey, Ho-Ho-Kus, Saddle River, Oakland, Mahwah, Ridgewood, North Haledon, Hawthorne, Franklin Lakes, Haledon and Fair Lawn assisted Wyckoff on scene and provided stand by coverage in their 3 fire stations. As units on scene were still operating, the stand by units responded to 2 other calls for service in Wyckoff. The fire remains under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
