Drill on an acquired structure
By Ex-Chief Louis Warnet Jr.
July 23, 2025
On Monday night, the RFD conducted a drill on an acquired structure in Allendale. Members trained on the removal of victims from both the roof and interior. During the drill, Assistant Chief Jim Dougherty took the opportunity to show 3 future firefighters some of the equipment and allowed them to see the operation up close, while their parents looked on. The 3 brothers showed respect and were very interested and excited to be up close to see what firefighters do. The RFD takes great pride in educating the public in the complexities of saving lives and fighting fires. This training is the best platform for the public to view and understand how things work.
Mom of those three boys here, and I can't thank you enough for your kindness, patience, and time on Monday. The kids haven't stopped talking about the experience, and it gave all of us (kids and adults alike) a whole new level of appreciation and respect for the critical work you do to keep our neighbors and communities safe. We're truly grateful for the experience and for your service. Thank you!
